Cheap and Easy Addiction Treatment Doesn’t Work

There are a huge variety of types of help available for dealing with drug addiction and alcoholism. You can go to a local bookstore and buy a $15 book on overcoming substance abuse, and you can usually attend support group meetings for free.

It’s possible to see a therapist for a reasonable cost if you have some type of health insurance, a program for low income residents in your area, and employee assistance program, or are in school. With all of these cheap options available to you, why should you spend up to tens of thousands of dollars on going to drug rehab center? The answer is that comprehensive and intense help is almost always required for someone who suffers from alcoholism or drug addiction. This is especially true when the substance is more severe, long term, or the individual has attempted to quit unsuccessfully in the past. In these situations, self-help and limited treatment programs simply don’t work. Rather than wasting your time and energy on ineffective methods, you might as well go straight to a treatment center that will be able to give you the real help that you deserve.

There are many reasons why rehab programs work better than reading a book, seeing a counselor, attending support group meetings, or other relatively simple methods. These things can provide wonderful benefits in your addiction recovery and help you maintain abstinence. In fact, it is encouraged that you seek them out before, during, and after going to a treatment center. However, they aren’t enough to help you beat addiction on their own. You will need the benefits of living in a structured environment around the clock with a supportive community of trained professionals and other addicts. Don’t waste any more time on things that aren’t effective. You deserve to realize the benefits of a real drug and alcohol rehabilitation program.
