Drug Rehab Treatment Resources-Deciding Outpatient Drug Addiction Treatment
Inpatient drug addiction treatment programs may sound forbidding, but not all drug addicts are suited to an outpatient treatment program. An outpatient treatment program is that which is conducted at the residence of the person, preferably under the guidance of a responsible family member.
In such a treatment, the person will face withdrawal too, but the symptoms will be mild and can be taken care of at the home of the patient with medical assistance and family supervision. Because of the laxity in the treatment approach in the outpatient drug addiction treatment program, several people think that it will be more convenient for them. However, as mentioned above, the drug addiction treatment program is not for everyone. There are certain points that need to be followed for a person to be eligible for outpatient drug addiction treatment. Some of the common eligibility points are as follows:-
1. The person must not be in the drug addiction since a long time, and must be able to easily work a determination to overcome the problem.
2. The person must be able to stay away for three complete days from the drug without developing serious physical and emotional side effects.
3. The person must have a responsible member at home to monitor and guide them through the treatment.
4. The person must stay committed to the program and must be willing to attend treatment sessions for several times a week.
5. The person must never have been in an outpatient treatment program before because that will indicate the failure of the program since the patient needs treatment again.
If any of these points do not concur with the patient’s needs, then inpatient drug addiction treatment would be the best approach.
