Everyone has friends. Even those who are on drugs have friends. Many people with a drug addiction had friends that they’ve had before they started using drugs.

Usually, those friends do not mix with those friends who use along with the drug addicted person. This can cause some major issues between someone who has a drug addiction, and the friends who do not necessarily condone the use of drugs. Friends will attempt to stick with someone through thick and thin, but sometimes it becomes too much to handle.People who are friends with someone who has a drug addiction wind up going through a lot of stress and emotion. Drugs are known to make people have mood swings and some “violent” swings. These swings can be rough for those who are watching a friend who has suddenly started drug abuse. The words and actions of the person who has a drug addiction during these swings can be painful and harmful. Violence is always a negative thing; friends who have had to deal with someone who has a drug addiction and is violent will not hesitate to end the friendship.

Good friends are supposed to stick by each other. Unfortunately, for those who have a drug addiction, they may lose all of these friends because of their actions. The violent and drastic mood swings that they can have may ruin friendships. A substance abuse problem can ruin a friendship in multiple ways. The change in personality is just one of the major ways in which someone with that drug addiction can harm those around them. Friends are not family; if they have a friend who is acting up and is being more trouble than they are worth, they will walk.
